In this position, I conducted research, building relationships with diverse advocacy organizations and congressional offices, and attending congressional hearings/briefings on behalf of CCL. I became conversant with CCL’s unique organizing tools, and methods, which are designed to empower all citizens to engage in advocacy and outreach work in pursuit of a sustainable climate and healthy democracy.

As a student collaborator, I have worked with Chester Residents Concerned for Quality Living (CRCQL) in a variety of ways since my freshman year (2019) of college. In this most recent capacity, I have worked with the leaders of Campus Coalition Concerning Chester (C4), the student arm of CRCQL, to advance the financial capacities and legitimacy of the organization through organizing for a $25,000 grant, producing an "About Us" video for CRCQL, holding space for a plethora of conversations with Swarthmore College faculty and administrators

The leading organizing and policy instrument for addressing HIV/AIDs in black and brown communities, my work at The Black AIDS Institute is dedicated to assist with outreach and critically look at areas of growth within chapters; aid in the development of Jamii, the Institute's new professional learning community, where I examine the program and offer creative feedback; and, "Cut the Stigma," the Institute's HBCU centered outreach to end stigma, provide HIV and sexual health education, and I assist in reviewing what has been done, and conduct outreach to potential schools.

After connecting with the then candidate, I was able to secure an internship conducting research with Councilmember-Elect Stefan Roots, where I am identifying effective activities for citizens to engage in to take ownership and meet the gaps of the current administration, as Roots plans for his initial days in office this January 2022. Identifying effective communication strategies, Councilmember-Elect Roots is seeking to empower Chester residents to recall their history of citizen action to hold the failing City Council accountable, as the city is in receivership.

Working with Representative Karin Power, my position was self-designed and outlined to aid in the research and development of innovative policy solutions to childcare needs, as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. The scope of my work entails attending COVID childcare crisis-related committees; executing policy research, case studies, and producing relevant policy memos for legislative bill ideas on how to address and transform Oregon's existing childcare system to: first, cultivate programmatic avenues for childcare providers to become certified teachers and educators.

Selected for my commitment to social justice and civil rights, the Otto and Verdell Rutherford Scholarship offered me the opportunity to work on the environmental and foreign affairs portfolios of US Senator Jeff Merkley. During my time I developed proficiency in note-taking, briefing, crafting decision memos for the Senator, data expertise organizing constituent emails and most importantly, being responsive to the needs of our constituent over the phone, leading tours and writing policy response letters.

Working with one of our staff policy analyst, I helped to conduct research on behalf of an adopted policy proposal to initiate an equity program for cannabis licensing for communities disproportionately impacted by the former criminalization. I also organized and hosted a youth empowerment event at City Hall. Daily operations were directed towards attending meetings, taking constituent calls, working on social media and providing advise.

Additionally, I helped to organize and attend several lobby days at the Oregon State Capitol. The organization has since gone national, where I have served as a fellow and a member of the Millennial Advisory Board.

A policy initiative passed by communities of color and environmental justice organizations, the Portland Clean Energy Fund acts as the officiating conduit between the cities and these stakeholder groups to disseminate grant funds for sustainably equitable jobs and programming to strengthen the city's commitment to addressing climate change and racial justice. I have the opportunity to work in the liaison function between the institution and communities to analyze, gather feedback, and provide recommendations on the participant grantees.

Working with a team of fellow students, we coordinated and facilitated a three day seminar on restorative justice with middle school students. I also worked to write, create, edit and produce a short film about restorative practices on Eurocentric standards of beauty.

Commissioned to write blog posts for the organization, I attended meetings and gave feedback on strategies to reach more students and youth. Additionally, I worked to coordinate and host with several colleagues a photo project for the International the Time Based Art Festival 2017 -- that was featured later in the Portland Winter Lights Festival and several other major local art scenes.
Taking over the blog, I helped develop the website theme, manage content, coordinate guest contributors, edit content and produce my own. The entire framework of the current online platform was a development of my own and I have passed it on to the next editors to contribute their vision.
After collaborating with the Director, we created this position for me to conduct outreach to young people, coordinate events around civic engagement and youth agency and generally bringing people into the physical space of the CENTER. Some of the highlights were producing shows with our NPR affiliate, hosting US State Dept. delegates, and working with middle school students on topics of race and privilege.
